Reconstruction: It was a period of massive political, economic, and social rebuilding of the South because whole regions of the South were devastated by the war.
Impeach: To bring a formal charge of wrongdoing against the accused
13th Amendment: It abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime.
14th Amendment: It granted citizenship to everyone born or naturalized in the United States, which included former slaves recently freed.
15th Amendment: It granted African American men the right to vote by declaring that the right of citizens of the United States to vote would not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
Jim Crow Laws: It allowed people to segregate and uphold or practice discrimination against of Black people.
